DVD – An Elephant Called Slowly

The touching story of Slowly the Elephant begins when Ginny (Virginia McKenna OBE) and Bill (Bill Travers OBE) attempt to look after three young elephants that turn up at the Kenyan property a couple are house sitting for while their friend is getting medical care in Switzerland. The couple name the two largest elephants Kadengi and Jaspar, and the smallest one Pole Pole (Swahili for “slowly slowly) and together with a cavalcade of wild animals soon wreak havoc “like juvenile delinquents”. The lovable elephants soon adopt Ginny and Bill creating a family bond like never before.

Made in 1969 this heart-warming family film stars both of Born Free’s Co-founders, Virginia McKenna OBE & Bill Travers OBE. An Elephant Called Slowly is the true story of a baby elephant that inspired the creation of Born Free.

Money from your purchase will be used to directly fund the care and/or protection of many animals, as well as to fund other key Born Free initiatives and projects. So, from all of us here at the Born Free Foundation, we would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Without people like you, we wouldn’t be able to carry out the crucial and important work that we do. If you have any questions regarding your purchase, please do not hesitate to contact us

How Else Can You Help?

Sending us used postage stamps is a great way for us to raise extra money for wildlife. Born Free Foundation works with a stamp dealer who operates with various charities, receiving stamps. We ask that you send all stamp donations directly to our dealer. We welcome all stamps, on or off paper. If possible, stamps on paper should have no more than 10mm of single thickness border around them, please do not trim them so close that the perforations are damaged. If you use High Value Commemorative Stamp(s) or Miniature Sheets (above the rate of a 1st class stamp) on your packaging we will receive an additional 50 pence per item received.
