How do I renew my adoption?

Your adoption will last for one year. If you paid for your adoption with a one-off payment, we will contact you when your adoption is due for renewal. If you paid for your adoption by direct debit, via our main website, your adoption will be automatically renewed.

Will I be the only person who adopts an animal?

Born Free adoptions are a co-sponsorship programme which means multiple people can adopt the same animal or species.

How is my adoption money spent?

Every year, Born Free rescues and protects thousands of animals around the world. Whether this is funding anti-poaching patrols, key research initiatives or providing lifetime care for rescued animals, the money raised from our adoption programme funds key work and helps to provide a better future for wildlife. Money from your adoption will be used to directly fund the care and/or protection of the adopted animal/species, as well as to fund other key Born Free initiatives and projects.

I don’t have a PayPal account and don’t want to set up one, can I still pay?

Yes, you can still pay without a PayPal account. When you have finished shopping and entered your contact and shipping details into the cart information pages, click on ‘complete order’. This will take you through to a PayPal login page which has at the bottom the option to pay using credit/debit card as a guest.

What are your shipping and handling costs and where do you deliver to?

Due to the increasing costs of international dispatch we have had to review our postage charges to ensure our postage and packing costs were are in line with the actual costs we incur.

For merchandise & mixed baskets - To post anywhere in the United Kingdom we charge either £2.99 or £3.99 depending on weight of the parcel.

International shipping is charged at £14.99 for orders up to 1999g in weight and £19.99 for orders over 2000g

For adoptions -  UK P&P is free. To Europe it is £5.00 and to Rest of World £10

Adoption orders do not need to be signed for, but come in a box which won’t fit through the letterbox so you will need to be available to accept the delivery. A card will be left if you’re unavailable.

Please note - orders placed containing items from our Eco Store will incur an extra postage charge if your basket also contains items from the standard store. This is to cover postage costs from the print on demand supplier as well as our own fulfilment house

About us

Thank you for supporting the important work of the Born Free Foundation. We work tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect and are able to live their lives according to their needs.

As a leading wildlife charity, we oppose the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaign to keep them where they belong - in the wild.

We promote Compassionate Conservation to enhance the survival of threatened species in the wild and protect natural habitats while respecting the needs and safeguarding the welfare of individual animals.

We seek to have a positive impact on animals in the wild and protect their ecosystems in perpetuity, for their own intrinsic value and for the critical roles they play within the natural world.
